On 24th February 2014, the telecoms world witnessed the release of this year’s first flagship device, when mobile phone giants Samsung launched the Galaxy S5. The device boasts of a 5.1” Full HD super AMOLED 1920 x 1080 pixel display, 16MP rear camera and a 2.1MP front facing camera, fingerprint scanner, and a heart rate monitor. Powering the S5 is a quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, which runs at a 2.5GHz, combine that with the included 2GB RAM, and the S5 becomes a market-leading handset when it comes to sheer processing power.
It comes in 16GB/32GB of memory and allows up to 128GB of external Micro SD storage, giving you ample space to store all your photos taken on the incredible 16-megapixel rear camera or 2.1MP front facing camera. You can take high quality pictures on the go and it also comes with UHD 4K video recording at 30fps.
The phone comes with the latest version of Android, 4.4 or KitKat, as well as the new version of Samsung’s TouchWiz/Nature interface. The device is equipped with a massive 5.1” AMOLED 1920 x 1080 pixel, unlike its predecessor the Samsung Galaxy S4 (which is 5.0).
It has a finger print scanner located in the home button to prevent unauthorized access to the phone. The Samsung Galaxy S5 features a download booster which uses both the LTE and Wi-Fi to speed up downloads over 30MB and also provides users with health apps like S Health 3.0 to provide added health monitoring services to users. The device is also water and dustproof making it resistant to dust, sand and water getting into little crevasses, a la the Sony Xperia Z1.
There is a lot of improvement in the new phone compared to its predecessor. It comes with a higher resolution camera, faster download speed and health monitoring application that can measure the heart rate. In addition the Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with the latest LTE(4G) network and Wi-Fi capability. It comes with 2800mAh Battery giving users a higher battery life.
