It was rumoured that Research In Motion (RIM), presently known as BlackBerry, would distribute its mobile messenger app, BBM, across other mobile Operating Systems, like Android and Apple.
The rumour has been confirmed, as BlackBerry released the official version of the hybrid BlackBerry Messenger on the 21st October 2013. The original release date was set for early September, but was postponed on account of an alleged technical glitch.
